Hong Kong and Macao are setting themselves up to source international talent, in a bid to fulfil their local demand for talent, and China is backing them.
They are on the hunt for top tier international talent transforming themselves into an international hub.
You might think, so what; every country is trying to lure in international top talent…
Hong Kong and Macao are going to use international talent to nurture local talent, but they are also doing and thinking about other impacts.
Hong Kong and Macao are PLANNING.
Not only are they trying to get the best talent into their markets, they are planning to have top talent build local talent pipelines, and have also forecasted that by 2046, a third of their population will be over 65, so likely to lose somewhere around this amount out of their workforce, which is why the nurturing of local talent is so important.
Building this pipeline is sure to challenge their talent demands and shortages in their industries and geographical area.
This projected influx of talent is also locally beneficial. It will spur the growth of other industries in Hong Kong and force them to upgrade their economic structure and attract both local and international investment.
Honestly I loved this story. It’s embodied everything I want to be doing in my work.
You can’t think about things in isolation. Everything you introduced or change effects something and you don’t need to have all the answers, but you need to at least consider the implications and impacts of trends, movements, decisions.
Can’t wait to see how this space pans out.
